Vinyl / PVC Galvanized Cable- Commonly referred to as Coated Aircraft Cable
All cable is manufactured in accordance with the International Standard ASTM A 1023
The galvanized cable is coated in a clear Vinyl or PVC.
Vinyl is widely used as a shorthand name for PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
When using wire rope clips or compression sleeves with vinyl coated cables, match fitting size to uncoated cable diameter.
Strip coating off cable where fittings will be positioned for full holding power
7x7 Construction
Consists of seven strands of seven wires.
Generally used for small diameters. Less flexible than 7x19 construction, but it offers
Better abrasion resistance.
7x19 Construction
Consists of seven strands of nineteen wires.
Most flexible and widely used constructions well suited for a multitude of applications.
Measuring Wire Rope
The diameter of a wire rope is the diameter of the circle which encloses all the wires.
When measuring wire rope, it is important to take the greatest distance of the outer limits of the crowns of the two opposite strands.
A measurement across the valleys will result in incorrect (lower) readings.
